Benchmark Scaffolding was commissioned by Red Construction to support the expansion and refurbishment of office space at 7 Princes Street. The project involved the demolition of two upper floors and the construction of three new office levels, requiring a highly coordinated scaffolding solution to facilitate structural work and façade replacement on both the Princes Street and Courtyard elevations.

The high-footfall location near Bank Station presented significant logistical challenges, necessitating the installation of a scaffold gantry over the footpath, strengthened to meet City of London regulations. Additionally, the structure had to be engineered to accommodate height restrictions and maintain clearance over live bus stops and passing traffic. A specialist design was developed to integrate a hoist, hoist run-off scaffold, and a heavy-duty lifting frame within the gantry, while also providing safe access and overhead protection for pedestrians.

Collaboration with engineers and city authorities was essential to navigating project constraints and delivering a structurally robust and compliant solution. Despite restrictions on night work, the project was completed on time and within budget, with a strong emphasis on safety and efficiency. The advanced engineering of the cantilevered gantry demonstrates Benchmark Scaffolding’s expertise in delivering complex scaffolding solutions in high-density urban environments.
