At Benchmark Scaffolding, we know how important our people are across each touchpoint of the business in building our shared success. Today, we’re proud to celebrate Albie Cooper, one of our brightest rising stars who has been awarded the prestigious NASC Apprentice of the Year 2024. This achievement is a reflection on Albie’s dedication, talent, and hard work, but also values that mean so much to us here at Benchmark Scaffolding – professionalism, customer focus and excellence.

Albie joined the company as an apprentice in September 2023 following a call from Benchmark Scaffolding to Islington Council to provide employment opportunities as part of our social value policy. Albie came on board as a determined apprentice, bringing an eagerness to learn and a firm commitment to quality and safety. Over the course of his apprenticeship, he has demonstrated a remarkable aptitude for the trade, mastering technical skills while showcasing a natural ability to positively influence those around him.

“Albie has grabbed this opportunity as an apprentice with both hands and embodies everything we hope to see in young operatives climbing the ladder. He’s reliable, punctual, consistent, professional and a trusted member of our team” said Benchmark Scaffolding Contracts Manager, Stuart Didd.

The NASC Apprentice of the Year Award recognises outstanding apprentices who have gone above and beyond in their training, consistently delivering excellence in their work while making a positive impact on their teams and communities. Albie demonstrates these qualities in every way, and we couldn’t be prouder of his achievement.

Describing the decision process in selecting Albie as the winner of this award, The NASC said: “The judges felt Albie had something extra, including an incredible attitude that was positive and proactive. He has also overcome so much and sought out additional opportunities wherever possible.”

At Benchmark Scaffolding, we’ve always invested in nurturing talent. Albie’s success is a testament to the strength of our apprenticeship program, which combines hands-on experience with rigorous training and mentorship. By fostering an environment where individuals can thrive, we aim to build not just a business but a community of professionals who are passionate about their craft.

Albie’s recognition also stresses the importance of apprenticeships in the industry. As we celebrate his success, we’re reminded of the vital role apprentices play in shaping the future of construction in the UK whilst we work together to address the skills gap in scaffolding.

“Winning this award is an honour. I’ve learned so much during my apprenticeship at Benchmark Scaffolding, and I’m grateful to my team for their guidance and support. This award motivates me to keep growing and contribute even more to a long career ahead in such a supportive industry.”

Congratulations from us all at Benchmark Scaffolding, Albie!
